Technical Elements and Plot
Now knowing my characters, genre and having a general idea on what my plot is going to be, I want to expand on my plot as well as discuss some of the technical elements I will be using. I know that I want my film to be in the crime and mystery genre, and also know that I want to have a detective as my protagonist, as well as a confidant working besides him.
First off, I needed to expand on the confidant's role. In the previous blog post I discussed how I wanted there to be a confidant but was not sure on what his role would be in the film. After, doing some research on what a typical detective's confidant is, I have decided I wish his confidant to work in the same profession but hold a lesser role in the crime. So, I have decided he will be a cop who has the scoop on the crime and can give some general information, but won't be heavily invested in it like the main protagonist is.
Next, I wish to discuss some of the technical elements I will use in executing my film. First off, I will use a variety of different camera angles to give a mysterious vibe to the piece such as close ups. As well as some camera techniques such as a slow pan out to accomplish the same goal. The mise-en-scene will likely also play into the mysterious vibe of the piece with some low-key lighting. I am still not a hundred percent on all of the technical elements that will be used and still have much more research to do but I think this gives me a good basis going forward.
